This course meets requirements mandated by Bill 168, an Act amending the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Bill 168 defines Workplace Violence as:
a) the exercise of physical force by a person against a worker in a workplace that causes or could cause physical injury to the worker
b) an attempt to exercise physical force by a person against a worker in a workplace that could cause physical injury to the worker OHSA, S. 43 s 1 (1)
Workplace Harassment means engaging in a course of vexatious comment or conduct against a worker in a workplace that is known or ought reasonably to be known to be unwelcome OHSA, S. 43 s 1 (1)
Workplace Violence is any incident in which a person is abused, threatened or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work, including all forms of harassment, bullying, intimidation, physical threats/assaults, robbery and any other unwelcome behaviour. These behaviours may occur between individuals, groups of employees or co-workers at any level of an organization.
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to understand and better respond to workplace violence and harassment.
